Description
Saptha Kanya is a mountain range in Maskeliya, Sri Lanka. It s a place of natural beauty … I can t explain the feelings that the nature give us. One of the most beautiful area in Sri Lanka. Seven continous hills you can see there. And there are so many wonderful historical stories about these seven hills or “saptha kanya”
You can see the mountain range from different places with beautiful views
We weren’t able find the air crash monument though.
But this has most beautiful sceneries
The crash is the third deadliest in Sri Lankan aviation history and the third DC-8 after Arrow Air Flight 1285 and Nigeria Airways Flight 2120. Flight 08 with 184 passengers and 07 crew on board was en route to Mecca via Sri Lanka when it crashed into the famous Saptha Kanya (Seven Virgins Mountain) on December 4, 1974, exactly 10 minutes after 10 p.m. That is stated in the reports. The plane was completely destroyed in the crash, killing all 191 people on board.
One story (folk stories) behind the name of seven virgins “saptha kanya “ was that, earlier people couldn’t reach the mountains. And it was pure and unstopped.
