Description
One of the best place around 20km from Kandy. The view is awesome too. Took us about an hour on the bikes to get to that place. You can take the bike to the top. There is a beautiful lake underneath. Even if it is a vehicle, you can go up by putting it down. What a great place for photo shoots. From Kandy to Ampitiya Thalathuoya is going to Thalathuoya and then go straight from the junction to the south. It’s easy to find the road. Go and go in a free market. Bring back the polythene plastic that you carry as it was.
Belwood village was famous among Sri Lanka not because of the scenic view, it because of the Aesthetic Centre (Saundharya Nikethanaya) which situated in Belwood tea factory which was very popular during the colonial era. The legend says the owner of the factory used a huge bell which was made of wood. The wooden bell was used to notify workers about their duty hours, lunch and the tea break.
