Baththalangunduwa is an island which is located off the north-western coast of Sri Lanka and is accessible from Kalpitiya. It is approximately a 50 km journey on boat from Kalpitiya which normally takes about 3.5 hours. There are 14 islands on the north-western coast of Sri Lanka.

The best time to visit Battalangunduwa beach is during the dry months (from October to May). Many areas of the island open with coconut orchards and small Kadolana bushes from small area. Sun is burning across this open ground for about 10 months within the year and it’s an ideal place for the fishing and dried fish industry.
